Chiropractic and your Immune System

Written by Marjorie Butler, most recent Valedictorian of the Spring 2013 graduating class at Life University, Marietta, GA

Chiropractors focus on finding and correcting subluxations in your spine. When subluxations are present your nervous system is not able to operate at 100%.  Since the nervous system is the master control system of the entire body, every other system in the body will suffer if the nervous system is operating at a less than optimal state.  The nervous system and the immune system are very intricately related.  They work closely together to ensure that you are able to respond and adapt to your environment, including the ability to fighting off bad bacteria and viruses. Colic and Chiropractic Care

by Joseph Klein

Colic is defined as crying, in a healthy infant, more than three hours per day, more than three days per week, for more than three weeks. It is thought to currently be prevalent in up to 21% of all infants and to be caused by gastrointestinal discomfort in the infant. Colic can not only put strain on the family dynamic, but it can also have lasting adverse effects on the child’s development.  The standard medical treatment for colic is to prescribe Dicyclomine, which has side effects of apnea, seizures, and coma, and is contraindicated in infants less than 6 months of age. However there are other alternative ways to treating colic. Continue reading “Colic and Chiropractic Care”

Chiropractic for Children with Developmental or Behavioral Issues

What can chiropractic care do for my child?

It is our belief that all children need chiropractic care.  Kids with ADHD, Asperger’s, Autism, Sensory Processing Disorders, Tourette’s, Tics, (among other issues) can be helped.  By administering gentle adjustments, the nervous system is cleared of interference, allowing the child to function at their fullest potential in all aspects of their lives.  Children with developmental or behavioral issues are no different!  Our approach is to use very light touch to give the body a chance to remove this interference – known to chiropractors as subluxation – without over-stimulating your child.  Modifications can always be made in chiropractic to tailor your child’s treatment to suit their individual condition. What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic deals with the master communication system of the body. The brain, the spinal cord and the nerves going out from the spine. If nothing is blocking this system, then the body works at its full potential. If, however, a spinal bone moves out of alignment, it interferes with the transmission of mental impulses from the brain to the body. This blockage is called a subluxation. “Sub” means below, “lux” means light energy, and “ation” means the condition of. A subluxation is an area of the body that receives below the normal “light or energy”. If this happens, then part of the body no longer works at its full potential.

A chiropractor finds the spinal bones that are not in alignment and gently, with his/her hands, moves the bone back into alignment. This, the master communication system is restored to 100% it’s potential. Continue reading “What is Chiropractic?”

Why Our Kids Are So Sick and What We Can Do About It:  A One Act (very short) Play

Scene: A typical kitchen in Marietta, Georgia. A mom sits at the table, overlooking the deck. Gorgeous fall colors highlight the leaves on their oak trees; oranges, yellows, reds.  The sun shines on her face, but she doesn’t notice the beauty in front of her. She talks to her friend on her iPhone.

Mom:  Little Johnny  has his 3rd ear infection in 6 months.  I am so tired of giving him antibiotics.  Baby Jane kept us up all night with colic.  I can’t get her to nurse easily because of the latching problems she has due to the cranial distortions from her crazy birth.  And James is acting out more and more each day.  His teacher said yesterday that she thinks he may have a learning disability and may need hyperactivity meds because of ADHD.  What do we do?

Friend: I’ve told you this a thousand times!  Get your kids to see Marietta Kid Chiropractor!  We had all the same problems you did, but when we started getting the kids adjusted, everything changed.  No more ear infections, no more  colic, nursing improved, ADHD under control. I mean, it’s worth a try, isn’t it?  Like Dr. Rubin always says, “If you keep on doing what you are doing, you’ll keep on getting what you are getting. If you want something different, you need to do something different.” Continue reading “Marietta Kid Chiropractor Presents:”
